The minutes from the October 14, 2010 meeting were approved and accepted.
F.H.C.O.A. REPORT ~ Barbara Anger
Barbara reported that the account balances are as follows:
Commerce Bank $14,389.68
Leominster Credit Union $4,608.40
Leominster Credit Union C.D. $23,121.83
HELP AT HOME REPORT ~ Jim Robinson
Jim was not able to submit a Financial Report, as October’s figures were not yet available. There was no change in activity since the last report, and there is nothing new to report. The transfer in the amount of Four Thousand ($4,000.00) Dollars from the Welcome Aldrich account to the Help at Home account was made.
The Help at Home envelopes will start going out in the light department bills this month. The banners will be put up during the 1st week of December to coincide with the envelopes.
Christmas wreaths will be put up the week before Thanksgiving and come down the 1st week of January. The lights on the Christmas tree are being replaced this year with LED lights.
Cheryl reported that 31 Help at Home applications were received for the year.
BOARD OF ELDER SERVICES REPORT ~ Rick Mansfield
Rick reported that most of the time spent at last month’s meeting was spent on the audit review, which is a complicated process. The good news is that more money has been allocated for people on the waiting list for services. There will no longer be a waiting list.
Rick attended the 36th annual breakfast meeting. Tim Murray, who is a real proponent of seniors, spoke at the meeting. Lou Swan announced that all applicants on the waiting list will be taken care of.
Rick will work on having someone come in to one of the Council on Aging meetings. He said there is so much going on that we could have someone come in every month.

Louise distributed copies of the FY2010 Annual Report which was submitted to the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. The report shows that we are serving more seniors, especially more of the under-60 age group. The My Senior Center computer has been beneficial in enabling Louise to gather statistics more accurately.
Jacquie Kelly will be talking to Jim Shuris, head of the DPW, about having the old senior van towed out of our parking lot. It will then be declared as surplus equipment and disposed of appropriately.
Louise reminded the board that there will be a special town meeting on Monday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Mountview School. The items on the agenda are a feasibility study for Mountview School, balance the water sewer fund from last year, and acceptance of streets.
The Senior Center’s annual Christmas Party will be held on Friday, December 10th at noon. Toupin’s Catering will offer a menu of: Tossed Garden Salad, Freshly Baked Raisin Bread, Seasoned Rice, Fresh Steamed Green Beans, Chicken Pot Pie Topped with Puff Pastry and a Homemade Cream Puff for dessert.
The Annual Mountview Breakfast will be held on Thursday, December 9 at 9:00 a.m. Sponsored by the student government, this breakfast is for Holden residents only.
The Wachusett Area Rotary Breakfast will be held on Saturday, December 18th at the Manor Restaurant in West Boylston. The Wachusett Singers will once again provide entertainment. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with breakfast being served at 9:00 a.m.
OLD BUSINESS
Jacquie stated that they will be working on the Use of Building Policy over the next few months to come up with a more comprehensive policy. They hope to have something in place by the spring.
Jacquie was notified that the Harrington brothers are back in the oil business. They could be another source for Help at Home clients needing oil deliveries.
Worcester Community Action Council will have representatives at the senior center every other week from January through the beginning of March for fuel assistance applications.
NEW BUSINESS
Jim Robinson announced that the senior center showed up in the American Public Power Association’s national newsletter for the recently installed solar panels. The newsletter can be viewed on their website.

It was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:31 a.m.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. at the Holden Senior Center.
